Circles

Do you know why manhole covers are round? This was a question that was asked by my Geometry teacher when I was in the 10th grade. Have you got a clue? It's because the circle is the only geometric shape that can't be turned to allow the lid to fall through the hole. The lip of the hole being a smaller diameter circle that the lid, just won't let it happen. That's your Math class for today, and brings up the question, why is she talking about circles?

Well the reason is that it is the theme this week over on the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog. I wanted to use more than my image cut in a circle, so I went digging around in my paper stash. I found this great Christmas paper that had circles on it along with the coordinating papers with the polka dots. I knew it had to be a Christmas card. I also found a sketch that used a bunch of circles as embellishments, remembered I had some sucker embellishments that looked like peppermints(I cut the sticks off), and finally went looking for just the right Phindy's Place image(I knew there were a ton of Winter Cutie Christmas Images). I found the PERFECT one for my card. It's called "Peppermint Perfection". He or she(it's a very versatile image) can be found at the Phindy's Place Shop HERE. I've colored him with Copics.
The Sentiment is from Create with TLC, and as I said the paper is from my stash. I think it's from a paperpack I bought from Walmart about 4 years ago to use to make some invitations. I love the way this card turned out, and thinking of Christmas has me thinking it's a little cooler(that and knocking the thermostat down a notch or two).

Sugar and Spice with a Twist

Create a sarcastic or humorous card. That is the challenge this week over on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. Well since I love a little, well okay, a lot of sarcasm, this was a fun challenge for me. After all, Tiddly Inks has tons of images that lend themselves to both humor and sarcasm. That's probably the reason I'm so drawn to them.
For my image I chose this adorable little boy playing mud pies in the sand. He's called "Muddy Adventures" and can be found at the Tiddly Inks Shop. He's colored with Copics.

The papers are digital and come from Oscraps and a kit called "Of the Essence Add-on" from fei-fei's stuff. The sentiment is from Ginger's House and thought it was perfect for the image. Doesn't it make you think of the birth control commercial where the woman is waffling back and forth about having another baby or waiting? Definitely waiting, I'm thinking.

Two Cards for One Post

I'm going to use this blog to post two cards for two different challenges. It'll save those followers I have, from double duty, and will help me get them both blogged before challenge deadline passes.

This first card is for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog this week. We were asked to created a gift card/money holder for a baby. Thanks to Linda C, I had the perfect papers from a paper pack called Party Time from My Mines Eye and this sheer green ribbon to use to create this card. She's figured out that I love hot pink and lime green together.

The image is called "Special Stork Delivery Girl" and can be found at the Sassy Cheryl Shop. It's one of her newest images and isn't it delightful. She's colored with Copics. She looks like she's not sure what world she's dropped into. The sentiment was created by me in Photoshop, and you can grab it at the end of the post if you want.

The second card is for Sassy Cheryl's Color Me challenge, and this image is called "First Steps Boy". Having a grandson that is all about either hunting or cowboys, I had to make his first pair of boots camouflage. The diapers are inspired by the latest trend in disposable diapers - decorative ones. My great nephew had a pair on the last time he was here for a visit.
The papers are printed from a digital paper pack from Computer Scrapbook Dot Com called NO! A Toddler's Creed Boy by Jessica Salty. I decided to make a rocking card(saw one somewhere) and created the cut file in MTC to cut. Again the sentiment is my own and created in Photoshop, and it also is at the end of the post.

Show Me Thursday

It's that time again for a nosey in everyones work space as a part of Sassy Cheryls Show Me Thursday challenge. I don't have a lot going on in mine right now, as I've been out of town for the weekend on an ADVENTURE(future post to tell you all about it). At any rate, this is what's happening in Tazmania right now.

Friday morning I got home from loading kayaks(part of the Adventure story), to find a Priority Mail box on the back of my car. I thought it was a late gift from DD for my DH for Father's day, but NO it was a box from me from my dear friend Linda C. She sent me a box of goodies including some glittery paper, some fabulous hot pink tulle and some sheer lime green ribbon(she knows me so well as this happens to be my favorite color combination). There were stamps and embellishments in the box too. Oh and I going to have some fun with these. Thank you dear friend.I'm also working on Copic cases to sell(raffling one off at the Lungs 4 Life Fundraiser), so last Thursday night I sat and scored two sets of boxes for the large Copic cases and one set of boxes for a Medium case(246 boxes total). I still have to fold and glue them all together along with actually sew the cases that these boxes go into.And finally, I have been wanting a rolling rack that would roll under the end of my work table that would hold my air compressor and my embellishment boxes. Because of the dimensions, it was very hard to find. DH had promised to build me on(that didn't happen) and then a dear friend's DH made me one, but lost my sketch and built what he thought I wanted. It would only hold two boxes of embellishments(my plans would have held 8). DH promised to add another shelf so it would hold 4 boxes of embellishments(that didn't happen either). Imagine my delight when last weekend at Sam's, I discovered this shoe rack. It didn't have rollers, but I decided I could add them, so made a side trip by Harbor Freight for the rollers. Well I had thought I could super glue the rollers onto the bottom of the legs, but that didn't work. I shamed DH into modifying the bottom(on Father's Day no less) by reminding him of the two above promises that didn't get delivered on. He wished me a Happy Mother's Day when he finished(he thinks he's funny and he is). At any rate this works great, because the top also holds not only my air compressor, but my Cuttlebug, my diecuts and my embossing folder and the two lower shelves have space for 6 boxes of embellishments. I have the left side of the table to use the air compressor or the Cuttlebug.Thanks for taking a nosey in my space and be sure to post your space over on Sassy Cheryl's blog. Lungs 4 Life Fundraiser

Another Black and White Card

When the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog DT chose Black and White for their weekly challenge, ideas just started popping in my head.

Last week I was over on Paulette's Create with TLC site and found the sentiment I used for this card. I knew when I saw the sentiment that it, with the Phindy's Place image, "Skinny Sale", was a perfect combination. You can find the image at Phindy's Place store, HERE. I colored her with Copics and put her in black(makes you look thinner or at least makes you think you look skinnier) capris and a red(one of my favorite colors) shirt. I also gave her my dyed red hair color. I think I see a resemblance, especially if I don't get my eating under control.As I mentioned, the sentiment is from Create with TLC, one of my favorite places for sentiments. Paulette is so generous with her free sentiments, and only expects a "thank you" in a comment in return. The papers are from all over the place. The gingham is from Bev Rochester. The floral background paper is from the Shabby Princess' free Urban Kiwi Kit and the embossed flower paper is from Just So Scrappy 2's Denim and Lace kit. I found the ribbon flowers in the sewing aisle at WalMart and stuck it on a chipboard flower(actually matches the Urban Kiwi papers) I picked up in the sale items at Michael's a long time back.

OK, I really have to get on with my day. I still have miles to go before I sleep.

SMT on Wednesday

Well get ready for the mess that I had in TM yesterday afternoon. I was making a challenge card and working on Copic boxes to sell and things got a little messy(OK a LOT messy). The pile of Copics are the ones I used on my card. On the corner is the small Copic box, that I'm filling with small boxes to actually hold the Copics so that they don't fall down inside the box. The far end of the table has the cutting mess I've made. I want a new die cutting machine, and I'm going to be making the boxes to sell with a quilted carrying case. I'm trying to finish up a small Copics box.

Are you sitting down? Before I left to go in to eat supper, I cleaned up my mess and set up my work area for scoring and assembling of the boxes. Looks like a totally different space doesn't it. Notice I even emptied the trash can and you can't tell, but I also swept the floor. Somebody check my temperature.Come on and post your space and get in the challenge for a free Sassy Cheryl image.
