This week on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog, we were challenged to create a card using a pet. Well, I've had "Just for You Guinea Pig"in my Tiddly Inks folder for a while and decided this was the perfect opportunity to use him on a card. There is of course no shortage of cute animal digis at the Tiddly Inks Store, so be sure to check them out.

The dp papers are from my stash and the Sentiment is from Create with TLC. My little guinea pig is colored with Copics.

Do You Have a Pet?

Spellbinders Anyone

The Sassy Cheryl PCP group is the biggest bunch of enablers out there. It's like a challenge to see what each member can sell the other members on must haves. So what happens this week, but that the DT gets into the hunt, by making the challenge on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog to use a Spellbinders. Thank goodness, I didn't have to go shopping(not that I'm not always online window shopping for what I want next) as this week there was no time to go to Tupelo or Tuscaloosa for a Spellbinder. I love all the scalloped Spellbinders and the Oval one is probably one of my favorites. Needless to say, the only issue with image is which to pick. Sassy Cheryl just keeps adding wonderful images every week to the Sassy Cheryl's store. I, however, have never used this "Hanging Out To Dry", and it was calling my name.

Papers are I think mostly from The Paper Studio and coloring was with Copics. The ribbon and flower were from my stash.

Go Green and Go Fast

This is going to be a very fast post. This week the challenge on the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog was to GO GREEN. You could either do it with color or with the environmental theme. My first attempt was with Spring Breeze. I mean what else could be more environmentally friendly than drying the nappies in the fresh air and sunshine. I had the card base finished, and the image colored. I decided to add some color around the edge of the image and totally messed it up. The next 3 tries didn't go any better. From that point, I changed images to Squeezes and thought just to go with the color theme. Got the image finished, masked it and stamped a cloud background over it and finished the card. I didn't like the way it looked. Time is now running out. So last night, I printed out the image, "Scoot About". This one qualifies on the environmental Go Green, since it's all foot power. As you can see, there was no lack of images for inspiration. Just go check out all the Summer Cuties at Phindy's Store . I also downloaded green papers from Summer Drigg's Sweet Cakes and Two Soon Kits.

I got up this morning with a full agenda on my plate and realized if I didn't get this card made and blogged before I left for town, I'd miss the challenge, so at 7 a.m., I was in TM busy as bee still in my nightie(good thing we live in the country and way off the road). I can't remember what challenge site had the sketch, but will come back and amend that later.

One last thing before I go. Be sure to check out Phindy' Place store tomorrow as Phindy is releasing a set of Winter Cuties. Also check out the Challenge Blog as the DT is going to do a blog hop with the images. We've gotten sneak peaks that have only been taunts and teases. However from what I can see, I'm going to have to have them all.

Snowmen in September?

I understand that it's been rather chilly in the Northwestern part of the United States, and they're thinking snow may be early. However, if I had a snowman and set him outside, he might last about 3 minutes here in the deep South. It's still hot and humid, and fall isn't looking like it's arriving any time soon. So why the talk about snowmen? Simple, Jodi-Ann is the Sassy hostess this week at Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog, and she challenged us to make a card or project using a Sassy Cheryl snowman image with some extras - button(s), ribbon and sparkle. So here's my dilemma - WHICH IMAGE DO YOU USE? Cheryl loves snowmen, and her STORE is full of them. Choices, choices and more choices, including the free snowman image she has up on the PCP site for 700 members.

For my card, I chose the "Dancing Snowman" image. He's colored with Copics to match the colors in my DP paper. The DPs are wonderful aren't they? They're from Summer Drigg's free papers and are from the Winter Gifts collection. I added some mock flower fluff(word really rhymes with loft) for snow for my sparkle. I learned how to make my own cheaper version from this tutorial on the Hog Wild About Stamping Blog.

Martha Stewart has an edge punch called Daisy Dot Edge that has as a by-product a little daisy flower that looked like a snowflake to me. I miraculously had a piece of cardstock on my table that was the right color blue, so quickly punched some snow to add to my card. Finally needed a ribbon and a button. The ribbon was some fancy white ribbon, I had to make hair bows with I think. It had lines of satin, that I colored with the same Copics I used on my image(Copics can color so many things). My sentiment is from Create With TLC, and when the snowman challenge was called, I knew this was the sentiment I was going to use. Final touch called for a button, so I quickly grabbed this polka dot button, added some green sheer ribbon and called it done.

Happy Birthday Anyone?

A few weeks ago, Create with TLC posted the sentiment "Celebrate with a Cup of Cake". Every time I saw it, I kept thinking of those cakes in a cup that Hungry Girl posts recipes for. You know the ones I mean, a single serving rather than a whole cake to tempt you. I do love a good cake, and have even been known to eat a not so good one if it contains chocolate and sugar. When the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog posted a challenge to make a Birthday card, I remembered that not only were there several cupcake images in the Tiddly Inks Store, but also an image of a cup. Just the two things to combine in order to use the sentiment.

I loaded both images into Word and got them to a size that the top of the cupcake fit into the cup. I also inserted the sentiment into Word so that I could get it the same size as the combined images. I colored the images with my Copics, and then came back with my Spicas to add a bit of shimmer. I cut the cupcake top out and used mounting foam to put the cake in the cup.

As far as the background papers go, I haven't a clue from what paper pack it came. I got it out of my cabinet, and I just know it was coordinating paper. I didn't have any ribbon the right shade of blue for the bow, so once again Copics to the rescue, as I quickly colored up some double faced white satin ribbon. Of course, you see some Spellbinders being used along with a Martha Stewart edge punch.

Haven't decided yet whose going to get this birthday card, but is shouldn't be a problem since I have lots of birthdays being celebrated between now and the end of the year.

Pieces

It's time for another Phindy's Place Challenge. Our task this week is to create a card and use paper piecing. I sew and make children's clothes, so I'm thinking this is going to be a lot like making a children's outfit. WRONG! It's much more tedious, let me just tell you. You have to be an expert with scissors(no big sewing shears for this project) and cutting very small things with them. Next off, you have the challenge of finding just the right paper to "make" your clothes out of. You can't just use some huge patterned paper on some tiny baby's outfit. Some definite thought and planning has to go into your project.

For this card, I chose the image, Reading to Sissy. I love this image of Big Brother reading to his Little Sister. It reminds me of what a great big brother I have. Not only is he a great Big Brother, but he was also a wonderful son. He was the primary caregiver for my Mother in the last few years of her life. I'm thankful that I got to share in the time with both her and him in the last year of her life. Now that's not to say that he and I didn't get into our fair share of trouble in our youth or for that matter with Mama in her last months.

I have tons of Phindy Place images, and lots of them that I haven't used in a card, yet. However, that doesn't stop me from adding to my file of Phindys Place images(I just like to look at them from time to time and plan). Just go check out all the wonderful images she has at her Store, and you'll understand my addiction.

Well, my two cuties have on their pjs, so now I'm on a paper chase for just the right papers. Sissy needed some flowers and Big Brother definitely needed pjs that looked masculine. Thankfully there are digital papers out there that allow you to resize, so if you can find a pattern that's not too big to begin with, you can make it small enough to look proportional on your children. Thank you Katie for putting me onto the Shabby Princess Blog site. Check out the blog for some incredible free downloads on paper. The other papers used on the card itself are from The Paper Studio. Don't you love bright greens and yellows on children. It just cheers you up.

Lastly the sentiment was one I thought up for myself, and since I'm going to be sending this on to my Big Brother, I just wanted him to know how I feel about him. Hope he doesn't think I've lost my mind, but I'm betting the note I'll write inside, will bring back some great memories and let him know just how special he is.
