SMT#25

Well the time is almost up for a nosey with what's going on with me. This week there's no crafting going on at all. DH and I left last Wednesday for Phoenix which is where we still are. We flew out to see our oldest grandchild graduate from HS. Not sure how that time has flown by so fast. Here's a pic of DH and myself with our daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren at the graduation on Saturday.

We're staying at our younger DD's while we're here and she has the 4 1/2 year old grandchild. Can I just tell you that I'm not sure this child knows what the real world is. His imagination is off the chart. On Sunday we drove up to Williams, Arizona and did the Bearizona wildlife drive through. While we were there MonkeyMoo found a buffalo hat he needed. It matches exactly the buffalo vest that he spotted in the ladies wear section of the Dillard's outfit. Voila, let me introduce you to the buffalo hunter. We're heading back home on Thursday and MonkeyMoo is going along with us. I'll return him on June 10th.

Don't forget to check out Sassy Cheryl's Blog for several more fun challenges. All of them make you eligible for winning a free image, and what can be better than that?

Show Me #24

My week has been hectic as usual, so I guess that's normal for me. I have got to quit making plans, because as sure as I do, something is going to come up.

It's that time of the week again, where we go noseying around in other people's craft spaces, or gardens or homes(just depends on what they're doing when that snap the pic) to see exactly what it is they're doing. Sassy Cheryl started this challenge and if you enter a pic showing what you're working on, you're in a drawing for a free Sassy Cheryl image of your choice. The hardest part it typing the blog, so come on folks, give us a bit of a nosey, PLEASE!

It's actually Thursday and I'm working on several projects. I've taken the drill and created two projects that I saw on Amazing Paper Grace's blog. One is a Peg Bow Maker(and it's so much easier to use than the Bow Easy. The other is a Flower Loom or I call it a Ribbon Flower maker. Here are the links to the Peg Bow Maker and to the Flower Loom. I took some left over quilted fabric and made a little case to put them both in and there's a small ziploc that holds the pegs and the rivets. I've put the link to the tutorials on these two gadgets on the bottom of them, for easy reference. Keep watching my blog as I'm going to be giving some of these away in the near future.

At the front on the left is an Indian arrowhead, that I'm sending to a special little friend of mine over in England. I also made him a canvas bag for his treasures. I still have to run some leather shoe laces through the top so that he can pull it closed. So I'm had a very creative morning. Now I have to write a note to go into the box with the arrrowhead, get to town for the laces and get it boxed and shipped today, lest Mo worry the poor postman to death.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to show us what you're working on right now and post it here on Sassy Cheryls Blog.

Tiddly Tuesday Puzzle Adventure and Blog Hop

To continue the celebration of the Tiddly Inks 1 Year Birthday Adventure, Christy is following the Blog Hop of last week with all of those fabulous prizes with a Puzzle Adventure and an Open Blog Hop. The Blog Hop will start at 9 P.M. CST on May 10 and continue through until May 12. There are a couple of easy puzzles to solve with the pieces hidden within the bloggers participating in the blog hop. Check out the details HERE.
For my card entry in the Blog Hop, I had to do create with this precious NEW image called LilliClaire-Make A Wish. She along with a couple of more LilliClaire images and lots more new and adorable images can be found over at the TIddly Inks Store. I have colored her with Copics and finished her off with my sparkling Spica pens. That crown just called for sparkles as did the magic dust coming off that wand.

The papers were actually from my scrap box. I'm working on it. Now be sure to play along with the Puzzle Blog Hop for a chance to win a prize or two.

A Vintage Mother's Day Creation

The Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog issued a challenge to create a Vintage Mother's Day card this week. Mother's Day has passed and time for entering the challenge has just about run out, but I did make a card for the challenge.
This image is among some of the wonderful new images Christy has put in her Tiddly Inks Store in the last couple of weeks as part of Tiddly Inks 1 Year Birthday(GO TIDDLY INKS!!!). Her name is Bev and she looks pretty old fashioned and vintage to me with her sweet jumper. I paper pieced her dress and finished her off with my Copics.

The papers are all from a digital kit from Raspberry Road Designs, and the kit is called Vintage Girls. It also has a vintage doll print that's really neat. The lace is from my stash and the butterfly punch is something I created with MTC, and finished off by coloring the insides of the butterflies with my pink and gold Spicas. Just in case it didn't look vintage enough, I sponged on some Distress Inks to everything on the card.LOL

Now tomorrow there's going to be a Puzzle challenge, so you're going to want to be sure and check back in on the Challenge Blog for a chance at some gift certificates.

Think Pink

This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryls Challenge Blog is Think Pink. Based on the number of pink paper scraps in by scrap box, I must think pink a whole lot. For this card, I worked strictly from my scrap box for papers.

The image I used from Sassy Cheryls Store is called Simple Gift of Flower. (I'd give you the link to the image itself, but I think you need to see all the wonderful images in the store). Isnt' she adorable with that big hat? I've colored her all in pink with my Copics. I finished the card off with my Martha Stewart ladybug edge punch and a pink flower. Are you all picking yourselves up off the floor with me posting my challenge card on Saturday instead of Monday afternoon at 4? I like to surprise Cheryl every once in a while.

Color Me Challenge #21

Well, this week's Color Me Challenge on Sassy Cheryls Blog had the cutest image of a bee called "No More Honey". Since my BFF is all about honeybees(her family was in the Bee Business well over 50 years), there's no way I couldn't play. If your card is picked as the best colored image by her son Zach, then Cheryl uses your image as her coloring model for her colored image and you win a free image. You also have a card to use when you finish, so it's a Win-Win any way you go.

I found these incredible papers over on My Grafico. It's a kit called Busy Bee Papers from Blackleaf Studios and can be found HERE. I cut out some hexagon(honeycomb) shapes with my Cricut and finished off the card with some bee and honeycomb buttons I picked up at Hobby Lobby on sale. This card came together amazingly fast for me

Thanks for popping by.

A Surprise Show Me #23

It's that time of week again, where all of us nosey Sassettes or Nosettes, get to do a little snooping around in other peoples crafty spaces and leave a few comments, along with showing off what we've got going on in our spaces or our lives. Why you ask? There are two reasons, 1 because we're nosey and 2 because we would like a chance to win a free Sassy Cheryl image without having to produce a card. Does that mean 2 should be because we're lazy? Nope, I didn't think so. So take a snapshot of your work space sometime between now and next Wednesday at 5P.M. EST, post it on your blog and link it to Mr. Linky"s at the bottom of the Sassy Cheryl Show Me #23.

This is the way my crafty place looked when I walked out of it last night. You're looking at a few cards I've made and the papers that I'm planning on using for the Color Me Challenge(I don't have time to put all those letters in color). For this challenge you have the chance of having Miss Sassy Cheryl color her image to match yours. Check it out HERE. Oh and did I mention that the Color Me images are marked down for that week?

So you're probably thinking by now that the surprise was the fact that I was actually working on a challenge long before the deadline, but no that's not it. Check out the picture below and here's how I spent a great two hours today. Yep, that's Dawn Lusk, one of the Sassy Cheryl DT members. Seems like her DH was raised in Starkville, MS only 20 miles from me. His DM is still alive(and doing remarkably well for 93), and he and Dawn came down to check on her. I picked Dawn up, and we went to the Barnes and Noble for some coffee and a nice visit. Then when we went back to her MIL's I got to see some of her coloring up close and personal. Now you all know she's an amazing artist, but let me tell you, photos don't do justice to her actual coloring. I promise they looked like paintings. I want to grow up and color just like her. I also got a visit in with her DH, and we even had friends in common. What a great afternoon it was for me. I figure Dawn and her DH are still trying to figure out who that red headed woman was.

So that's my SMT this week. I might not be first, but I get the award for nosiest, and Dawn probably would testify to that. Just so you know, I actually only lack coloring my Color Me Challenge image and adding it to my card, and it's only Thursday. I'm getting scary aren't I.

Glitter, Glamour and Glitz

If you read my blog, you know I love to read. I'm a HUGE Nora Roberts fan, because I think she has a wonderful knack of writing about relationships, and no I'm not just talking about romantic relationships, but about the relationships between siblings and friends. So now you're wondering what does that have to do with Glitter, Glamour and Glitz, the challenge theme this week on the Phindy's Place Challenge Blog?

Well, let me explain. Nora wrote a series of books last year called "The Bride Quartet." I happen to be re-reading the first book of the series called Vision in White. This series is about four friends for life that as children played wedding(and grow up to have a full service wedding business) where and I quote " By the time she was eight, Mackensie Elliot had been married fourteen times. She'd married each of her three best friends -as both bride and groom-her best friend's brother(under his protest), two dogs, three cats, and a rabbit." Isn't that a great opening line? That line reminds me of Phindy's Place image Babbie Bride along with the Royal Wedding last week. I don't know many little girls that haven't played bride growing up. I couldn't wait to use her in a card, and the Glitter, Glamour and Glitz, was the perfect challenge. I mostly paper pieced her. What little coloring is done with Copics and her shoes and her earrings are colored with a Gold Spica pen.

The tablecloth fabric of her dress is actually a cream lace looking piece of stationery. The beautiful blue background paper is from a digital kit called Cocoa Paisley Damask from Dotted Daisy Design Solutions from My Grafico. I printed it on a beige marbled paper. The flourished border is from Pewter 7 and was cut out using the MTC software. I then colored it with the gold Spica pen and gold Stickles. I made the veil using some tulle to which I stitched some double faced ribbon. I've done this before, as I made both my daughter and my niece's veils using this same technique. The head piece is a flower I made using a flower loom that my DH made to my specifications based on the tutorial you can find at Amazing Paper Grace. The butterfly is for the book as it created a defining moment for one of the characters in the book.

The sentiment is one I created in Photoshop, and based on the book. Here's the sentiment below, if you'd like to have it feel free to try and enlarge it, otherwise, send me an e-mail.

Thanks for stopping by. I think I succeeded in meeting the challenge guidelines.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Well I don't know how much truth there is to that here where I live. We've had so much rain, it's going to drown the flowers. I finished my card with a major thunderstorm going on, and made a mad dash back to the house as soon as I got it finished and photographed. At any rate this week on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog the theme is "April Showers Bring May Flowers", and you need to either use rain drops or flowers in your creation.

Tiddly Inks is having a Treasure Hunt Blog Hop through tomorrow night. There are tremendous prizes and blog candy up for grabs. To read all about it and get on your way hopping click HERE. Also, you should know that there's a 25% off sale going on through May 3 also, and you can get in on the action by going to the Tiddly Inks Store. There are a ton of new images, you don't want to miss out on, so be sure to check it out.

For this challenge I have chosen to use this sweet image called "Donna's Adventure". I've colored her with my copics and then cut her out. I have her raised off the paper with sticky foam.

Now aren't these papers the greatest and perfect for this challenge? Everything, papers, rubber boots and the umbrella are from a great digital paper kit called April Showers from Just So Scrappy 2. They have some wonderful kits at amazingly low prices. The frog was is a wooden embellishment from a package I found at Hobby Lobby and the sentiment which I think is perfect for this card was from the $1 bin at Michaels.

Thanks for stopping by. I think I'm just going to get this entered into the challenge with a few minutes to spare.

The Great Outdoors

This week the very talented Miss Jeni set the challenge on the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge Blog with a theme of the Great Outdoors. Since so many of Cheryl's images are outside doing something, I'm thinking the hard part of the challenge is narrowing the image down to just one. You really need to check out all of Sassy Cheryls fabulous images HERE. She has all manner of bears, bunnies, snowmen as well as regular folks frolicking around outside.

For my image, I've chosen "Nature Lover", because I think she looks just a bit nosey with that magnifying glass. She screams EXPLORE to me, and I hope I'm always willing to learn and try new things and not let fear of failure or of the unknown stop me from going bravely forth. I've always been a daredevil, and I've got the scars to prove it. My cute little girl is colored with a bunch of Copics(I think I used half my stash).

The paper is from a free digital kit called Happy Mother's Day by Summer Driggs. I love these rose, aqua, olive and brown colors together. The sentiment is one I created myself in Photoshop and have it below if you would like to use it. Again I don't know whether the click and enlarge button works, but you can e-mail me if it doesn't and you would like to have it to use.
One card down and one to go and some Crawfish Etouffee to fix before I get to the second card. Thanks for stopping by.

Show Me #22

It's that time of week again. You know what I'm talking about, right? It's time to post a pic of what you've got going on in your craft space, or garden or house(where ever the work is for you) over on the Sassy Cheryl Blog. The Chief Sassette or should I say Nosette readily admits to being nosey and she has a bunch of nosettes that are right there with her.

This week my workspace has been a disaster as evidenced in the picture above. This big notebook is all my digital paper previews of the paper kits I have.

I've had tons of embellishments that were just tossed on the tabletop(you can see the Hobby Lobby bag on the far side of the Copics) and have been meaning to organize. So today, I cut all the folders for the photo boxes(I wanted to be able to put the tops on the boxes), sorted out the embellishments, printed labels and got them in boxes. It wasn't fun, but I finally got it done. These will go in my rolling cart that my BFF's DH is building me for my air compressor. Once that was done I cleaned off the rest of the table. It does look better doesn't it? Now tomorrow I need to get out to TM and get busy on some actual crafting. I have two challenge cards to get made and blogged before 9 p.m. tomorrow night.

Now that I've shown you mine, it's your turn to show me yours(space that is). Take a pic and post it HERE. I promise you'll get some visitors and you'll be entered to win a free Sassy Cheryl image(and who wouldn't want that).
